The first acquisition by InfraStripe, is based in Southern California (BC Traffic Specialist), the second in Nevada (Nevada Barricade & Sign Co), the third in Florida (AKCA LLC), and will be followed by several acquisitions targeted in several regions of the United States.
The company aspires to become the leading national infrastructure specialty contractor providing Highway, Runway & Parking Lot striping services along with adjacent services supporting traffic control, barricades, resurfacing and signage activities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the immediate direction of the Director of Operations, this position will perform a variety of professional estimating duties related to developing estimates and procuring work for heavy highway civil construction projects. This role will be responsible for implementing technical estimating standards and procedures. Responsible for developing the estimate of costs associated with the scope for potential jobs. Solicits supplier bids and proposals for labor, material and equipment and evaluates proposals to ensure they meet project specifications and budget requirements. This position is significant in ensuring the growth and success of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in developing and estimating business processes that will ensure applicability at an organization and project level.
- Evaluation of bids and providing the pricing in a timely manner.
- Develop initial amounts for labor, materials and cost estimates in response to the bidding process.
- Estimating heavy civil projects, project administration/project management of specialty traffic control striping activities.
- Analyze specifications and other technical documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for labor and materials.
- Analyze drawings and specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Act as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work during different phases of the project.
- Review budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and project teams as required. Seek corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures.
- Maintain good and professional client relationships and provide effective leadership for continuously improving the process for estimating.
- Confer with subcontractors, contractors, vendors, etc. on the adjustments or changes that need to be made in the cost estimates and help in determining the feasibility of the project.
- Research previous data related to subcontracts and purchase orders, etc., compiles the relevant reports and helps in the development of guidelines for future estimates.
- Determine the scope of work and contents of the project estimate by preparing a list of bid quantities and items.
- Responsible for calculating the statistical data, prices of various materials, labor cost, equipment, etc.
- Track all job costs and monthly forecasts in an accurate manner for all projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management
- Minimum 5 years’ estimating experience in heavy highway and roadway construction industry, road striping experience a plus
- 1-3 years supervisory experience
- Experience with cost estimating software applications, HCSS a plus
- Experience with local and state DOT specifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Strong mathematics and analytical skills and attention to detail
- Posses the relevant technical knowledge and comfortable using various computer programs
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Corporate headquarters are based in Charlotte, North Carolina, extensive travel is required.
