October is “Careers in Construction” month and we are seizing the opportunity to highlight careers in infrastructure! America’s industry has certainly grown and adapted in recent years, and InfraStripe is proud to be a part of the movement.
We know we don’t need to stress the importance of the public transportation system. The United States contains over four million miles of public roadways and the number of drivers is consistently growing. Between 2000 and 2019, the number of highway motorists increased by 18% to over 3 trillion.
But despite the increased number of drivers, the safety of these roadways is significantly lacking. A recent report advised that almost 43% of America’s roadways are in poor or mediocre condition. We are also told by reports that roads in this poor or mediocre condition are used for over 17% of all trips that occur in the United States. As one might suspect, this issue only increases the potential for serious, deadly accidents.
Our country has a tremendous need for workers committed to keeping the roadways safe for everyone. As of June 2021, almost 280,000 workers are employed in the road and highway construction business.
Now, there are a few common hesitations for people joining the industry. Typically, people think of careers in construction as seasonal or part-time with minimal to no benefits. People also believe that the jobs have little career potential with no meaningful on-the-job training.
InfraStripe, however, has chosen a different direction. We offer full-time, year-round positions that provide consistent income for our employees. Our compensation packages also included numerous benefits as well as opportunities for development and growth. We give our team the resources needed to take their construction career as far as they want to go.
Our mantra is that the safety of people is worth investing in. We are proud to have assembled a skilled team of workers committed to keeping highway motorists safe. We value the safety of others, and we are grateful for partners who strive for the same. This month is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in construction.
You can make a difference in ensuring the safety of motorists across our country.
